With the recent launch of our candles, we want to share with you our best tips on how to take care of your soy candles. Also, sometimes wood wicks need a little extra care. Here are our tips that will help you enjoy your soy candles longer.
THE FIRST BURN IS THE MOST IMPORTANTThe first time you burn a soy candle, you have to let the entire top of the candle melt (this can take about 2 hours). This ensures that the candle will burn down cleanly from then on and avoids any ‘tunnel’ down the center of the candle.TRIM YOUR WOOD WICKFor the best burn, keep your wick trimmed to about 1/8" and make sure to clean off any burnt ash bits from the last burn. You can use a nail trimmer or just use your fingers to pinch off the edges. If the wick is too long, it cannot absorb the wax and burn properly. Also, keep the wax pool free of wick trimmings and debris.MELT POOL FOR THE BEST SCENT THROWA 1/4” melt pool is best for scent exposure. When the melt pool is too shallow the essential oils don't smell as much.LIGHTING THE WOOD WICKWhen lighting your candle tilt it on an angle and let the flame travel across the length of the wick so the whole wick is burning evenly. It may take several attempts to get it lit.BE CAUTIOUSDo not burn if the wax is 1/2” deep. Never leave a burning candle unattended, and keep your candle out of reach of children and pets.
